Glazed stoneware with burning Palo Santo incense. Ceramics: 31cm high x 25cm diameter wide
Set of ceramic vessels that belong to an undetermined ancient people. The sculpture is formed by human facial features that tessellate, with each profile presenting a different pained expression. The artwork is inspired by archaeological mortuary vessels. The piece is is finished in a silvery black reflective glaze which alludes to the spiritual significance given to mirrors by several foregone cultures. Aromatic smoke rises out the vessel's many eyes, bridging the human with the spirit world.
There are two versions of this work: Te di ojos para llorar and Te di ojos y boca para llorar.
